Théorie des Langages (Formal Language Theory )
Language theory allows us to resolve problems related to the lexical and syntactic analysis phases in programming languages.
Formel language theory :
- Develops mathematical concepts and techniques that are foundational to computer science.
- Introduces the fundamental definitions and methods associated with artificial languages, typically programming languages
- Involves parsing (recognizing) a valid combination of entities used to produce source codes before semantic analysis and compilation
- Is a prerequisite to compliation
Objectives
At the end of this course, students should be able to :
Knowledge
- Evaluate the effect of string operations
- Evaluate the result of language operations
- Identify strings belonging to a given language
Know-how
- Prove sets equality
- Distinguish the type of languages using Chomskey hierarchy
- Produce a grammar that generates a given language
- Distinguish the type of grammars using Chomskey hierarchy
